New Mandarin Chinese Lesson: Taking A Taxi

We're excited to announce that 席爱娜 Xi Aina (Diana) has just published "Taking A Taxi", a new Beginner level Mandarin Chinese lesson, on Language Mentor! 

Lesson Script

Announcer:

Taking A Taxi
Dǎ Chūzūchē
打出租车

A:

Sir, we go - Beijing Hotel.
Shīfu, wǒmen qù Běijīng Fàndiàn.
师傅,我们去北京饭店。
Note: "Shīfu" is a courteous form of address, used for service workers.

Announcer:

Ten Minutes Later
Shí fēnzhōng hòu
十分钟后

Taxi Driver:

Here is Beijing Hotel.
Zhèr jiùshì Běijīng Fàndiàn.
这儿就是北京饭店。

Is this the place you want to go to?
Zhèr shì nǐ yào qù dē dìfāng ma?
这儿是你要去的地方吗?

A:

Actually, it's not, ...
Qíshí, bú shì, ...
其实,不是,……

Sir, go forward more.
Shīfu, zài wǎng qián zǒu.
师傅,再往前走。

The first intersection, turn right, ...
Dìyī gè lùkǒu yòuguǎi, ...
第一个路口右拐,……

go straight, the first traffic light, turn left.
yìzhí zǒu, dìyī gè hónglǜdēng zuǒguǎi.
一直走,第一个红绿灯左拐。

Taxi Driver:

Okay.
Hǎode.
好的。

A:

Okay, it's here, stop.
Hǎo, jiùshì zhèr, tíng.
好,就是这儿,停。

Taxi Driver:

Okay.
Hǎode.
好的。

A:

Could you give me a receipt?
Kěyǐ gěi wǒ fāpiào ma?
可以给我发票吗?

Taxi Driver:

Of course.
Dāngrán kěyǐ.
当然可以。
Note: Literally... of course ~ can
